CONCERTS AT CEDAR LANE
Thank you all for a very successful series! Concerts at Cedar Lane concluded its inaugural season on Saturday night, April 17, as our audience took a trip down memory lane, visiting silent movies of the 1920s with special guests, the Snark Ensemble. More than one hundred sixty-five viewers of all ages were treated to the slapstick antics of Harry Langdon, Buster Keaton, and Laurel and Hardy, while the members of the Snark Ensemble performed their own compositions to support the action on the screen. The Snark Ensemble’s performance was underwritten in part by a grant from the Maryland State Arts Council for which Concerts at Cedar Lane is grateful. Throughout the year we presented four performances, hosting more than 800 guests in our auditorium. Performances included Scottish folk songs, instrumental jazz, a classical orchestra, choir and piano soloist, and a trip into the historic world of silent films. We donated over $6800 to Children’s Hospital through John Kelly’s Washington Post fund, and received a very generous grant courtesy of the Maryland State Arts Council and the National Endowment of the Arts. We are grateful to all who attended Concerts at Cedar Lane and we look forward to seeing everyone again in the fall. Next year’s concert information should begin to appear on this site by mid-summer.Click here to view information about Henry Sgrecci.
