David Gosling, our Coordinator of Youth Ministry with some Cedar Lane Youth at September 2016's Ice Cream Social
Welcome to Cedar Lane's Senior High Youth Group, a welcoming youth group made up of students enrolled in Religious Education here at Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Church. This is promising to be an excellent year and we would like to take this opportunity to invite you to join us. The Senior High Youth Group serves grades 9-12 and meets for monthly events September - June.
Activities are planned in conjunction with our youth and may include:
Fall Retreat at Camp Tockwogh on Maryland's Eastern Shore—performing high ropes course, wall climbing, boating in the Bay, archery, and more; Ski Trip at Seven Springs Mountain Resort in Pennsylvania; End-of-Year Catoctin Retreat; Super Bowl party-watching the big game on the big screen in an alcohol-free setting; Multiple hang-outs at the church; A Youth Worship Team will begin serving the group this Fall in creating Youth-led Worship Services for the group as well as for the entire congregation.
Social Justice Projects: We will begin annually updating what our projects are by reviewing what the group feels is an essential project at that moment that they would like to tackle. Past projects have included raising funds for our Cedar Lane Scholarship, The Humane Society, Interfaith Works, and Manna Food Center.
The objectives of Senior High Youth Group are simple. Activities are intended to allow 9th through 12th grade students to continue to get to know each other, advance their socializing skills, learn Unitarian Universalist-based ethical lessons of sharing and caring for each other, perform public service for our community and church, and have fun in doing all this. It can also be a special place where youth are accepted and loved for who they are.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
Before each event, an announcement will be mailed or emailed to the student with information about the activity. If you have any questions, please contact David Gosling, firstname.lastname@example.org, or call the church (301-493-8300 x208).
We welcome new members at any time.
