Board Matters: Summary of the March 27, 2018 Board of Trustees Meeting

154 say “Yes!”

As of March 27th, our stewardship and visiting teams had made 154 visits to members and friends of Cedar Lane. We continue to watch our vision unfold as members make pledges to this year’s annual campaign and to the four-year capital campaign. We encourage members to say Yes! when one of the team asks to visit for the chance to know one another better, and to talk about what both campaigns hold for our future.

Congratulations Gail and Peggy

March is the month for looking ahead at Board leadership in the coming church year. Gail Riley was elected Board President, and Peggy Jackson was elected President-Elect. Thank you to both for your willingness to serve. Their terms will start in July.

Reflecting on UUA Actions

It has been one year since the revelation of discriminatory hiring practices in the UUA and the subsequent resignation of Peter Morales. The board prepared a letter to the UUA in support of the work to confront institutional racism within our denomination that the association has undertaken. We reflected on steps that we have taken at CLUUC and acknowledged the work that remains to be done.

Practicing Governance

The board continues to work with the Governance Committee to establish the process that supports the Covenant of Right Relations and Right Relations Task Force within our congregation.

Board meetings are normally held the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. and are open to all Cedar Lane members. To request time on the agenda or learn more about a current topic of Board discussion, email Board President Jim Anderson at boardchair@cedarlane.org or leave him a note in the church office.
