- Board of Trustees
In the first four months of this church year, your Board has considered, listened, discussed, studied, and discovered together. There are three pieces of critical news to share.
First, we are thankful and excited for the work of the Right Relations Task Force who brought a thorough and thoughtful report on implementing Cedar Lane’s Covenant of Right Relations. Thank you, Peggy Jackson, Bonnie Beavers, Marilyn Emery, Marion Torchia, and Debbie Trent for insightful and forward-thinking that will keep this critical promise alive in our congregation.
To learn more, join members of the Right Relations Education Team and the Board for a conversation, Sunday, October 28 in the Library between services (10:10 – 10:55 am). Click here for details. This is the first of a series of conversations being held by the Board on the fourth Sunday every month.
Second, the Board has significant concerns about our annual budget, given that despite the generosity of many of our members, Annual Fund pledges this year are critically short of the operating budget approved by the congregation at our Annual Meeting. Many hard-working and dedicated Combined Campaign Committee, Financial Policy Committee, and staff members have recently provided in-depth analysis and projections to update the Board of our financial situation. The review continues this month as we reach a critical point for making decisions about managing our budget for the remainder of this fiscal year.
Finally, we have dedicated time to learn how we as leaders can carry and live out Cedar Lane’s Vision that we embrace multicultural inclusion. We are very excited about October 19 and 20 Multicultural Ministry Review and wish for a large congregational turnout. In January, we will launch “Beloved Conversations,” a highly respected program that explores how race and ethnicity shape our spiritual and social lives and has engendered positive change in the organizations who adopt it.
Board meetings are held the third Tuesday of every month at 7:30 pm and are open to the public. November’s meeting is Tuesday, the 13th to avoid Thanksgiving week. If you would like to communicate to with the Board, our members wear blue name tags at church or you can send an email to email@example.com.
