Summary of the April 17, 2018 Board of Trustees Meeting

Building our Vision and the Annual Budget

Our Annual Pledge campaign continues along with the “Building Our Vision” capital campaign. Though the capital campaign goes through June, the time for making annual pledges is shorter. Soon, we will build our 2018-2019 budget in preparation for the congregational meeting, Sunday, June 3.

The campaign’s team has been hard at work reaching out to every Cedar Lane member and making more than 180 visits so far. And it’s unanimous. All the team members thoroughly enjoy each visit and making new acquaintances in the process. The team looks forward to hearing “Yes!” from more of our members in the coming weeks.

Visit the Cedar Lane website to watch the numbers for both the capital and annual campaign grow.

Right Relations Task Force Underway

We of Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Church strive to build and maintain a welcoming, safe, and inclusive community for all who worship and work here—one where trust, acceptance, and caring thrive.

- Opening of the Covenant of Right Relations

The congregation passed our Covenant of Right Relations in October 2017. A task force has been formed as a first step toward honoring the values in right relationships that we hold dear. Working closely with the Ministry Team, the task force will develop a process to learn, communicate, and practice the ideal of right relationship. Their goal is to complete their work by July 1, 2018.

Growing a Culture of Generosity

We have had ongoing discussions about a key factor we have come to believe is deeply important to church life, yet unaddressed in the four pillars of our Strategic Directions. The discussion centers on transformational giving and the presence of a culture of generosity that will sustain both the members and work of Cedar Lane. The Board is working closely with the Ministry Team to more fully understand and apply these principles.

A New Board Member Welcomed

The Board approved Tod Chernikoff to complete the term originally held by Brent Garland. Thank you, Tod and Joan Riggs, for saying “Yes!” to fulfilling two open positions on the Board.

Board meetings are normally held the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm and are open to all Cedar Lane members. To request time on the agenda or learn more about a current topic of Board discussion, email Board President Jim Anderson at boardchair@cedarlane.org or leave him a note in the church office.
