No matter your passion, you can engage with that passion by volunteering with our children and youth. If you care about social justice, one of the best ways to change the future is to raise the next generation to care deeply about justice work. If you care about spiritual development, one of the best ways to learn more about your own spirit is to teach others about theirs. If you care about connection, one of the best ways to feel connected to our community is to teach our children and youth, and you’ll develop strong connections with your fellow teachers. Well, I could go on and on. Simply put - we can do more together.
Many think there is some super special skill set religious education teachers have to have, from being an expert in classroom management to being an expert in UU History and Theology. And, you know what, there is a super-secret special skill set: you have to care. You have to care about our children. About our youth. About our families. About our community. About our world. And that’s it. If you have that care and you have that enthusiasm, that’s all you need to be a great religious education teacher or volunteer. Everything else we’ll teach you. We need you because we can do more together.
