About our November 8 Luncheon: THE IMPEACHMENT OF ANDREW JOHNSON. Our speaker will be David O. Stewart, who, after many years as a trial and appellate lawyer, became a best-selling writer of history and historical fiction. David will talk about his book, Impeached: The Trial of President Andrew Johnson and the Fight for Lincoln’s Legacy. The explosive impeachment trial of President Andrew Johnson fundamentally shaped the constitutional impeachment process we have today. The Johnson trial had its roots in the social and political revolutions that rocked the South with the end of slavery and of the Civil War.
