The Grounds Team helps keep our campus beautiful. They help with planning, planting and watering, addressing problem areas and ensuring our grounds are meeting the congregation’s needs.
The team holds monthly meetings and members often work afterwards or at other times during the week, but the only events that we publicize and seek volunteers are the November leaf collection and the two grounds clean-up days, as described below. NOTE: These are opportunities for the whole family and youth can earn Student Service Learning hours!
Engagement Opportunities
November Leaf Collection. Individuals and families are invited to help rake and carry leaves to the curb along Culver Street for the county to collect. Bring your own rake or (electric) leaf blowers if possible and dress for the weather. Time commitment: 2-3 hours.
Grounds Clean-up Days. Each spring and fall we organize an event to help rake, weed, plant and clean up our grounds. We also spread wood chips on our trails. Time commitment: 1-3 hours or whatever you can do.
Individuals and families are welcome. For all gardeners, those with green thumbs, and those who just like plants: This team has a place for you as an occasional helper or as a new team member. No plant knowledge is needed.
