Cedar Lane partners with AIM , a local faith based network advancing systemic change in housing, education, safety, and justice. Through organizing, advocacy, and public action, we put our values to work in the public square.
AIM began in 1998 when clergy and lay leaders in this county came together to discuss how to address the growing pressures on families in their congregations. Since then, AIM has developed into a broad-based community power organization rooted in Montgomery County’s neighborhoods and churches. It is non-partisan, multi-faith, multi-racial and dedicated to making our county and state a better place for all to live and thrive. You’ll find that AIM is working for change—in relationship with the County Executive, the County Council, and in Annapolis. Cedar Lane UUC is one of nearly 30 member institutions in AIM. We are partnering with AIM and these institutions to address an agenda focused on justice issues that affect thousands of lives.
AIM is currently focused on immigration issues, affordable housing and cost of living, school programs to ensure academic engagement and success, tenant protections, safe youth spaces, and the impact of climate on low-income housing. We have been successful in moving the AIM People’s Agenda from hope to reality.

One of the greatest benefits of participating in such a broad-based coalition is the opportunity to build relationships with members of our widely diverse county while working together to achieve sustainable change. Our collective efforts produce concrete results greater than any individual institution could accomplish.
