The Democracy Action Ministry Team at Cedar Lane supports actions that support and strengthen our democratic process. We have engaged in writing Get-Out-the-Vote postcards, participating in No Kings Day demonstrations, advocating for democracy, and promoting and participating in non-violence training.

Engagement Opportunities:

• Attend regular planning meetings (a core, not everyone).

• Link Cedar Lane with outside organizations that people already belong to, such as

  • UUs for Social Justice.

  • UU Legislative Ministry of Maryland.

  • Local Indivisible teams.

  • Silver Spring Progressive Action.

• Share about and attend upcoming democracy actions.

• Receive additional non-violence training.

• Participate in other efforts to get out the vote.

If you are moved to somehow DO SOMETHING to help preserve our democracy, you can stop by the voter postcard table (ahead of elections) or attend actions like No Kings Day. If you want to do more, attend a few meetings and see if you find something in particular that speaks to you, and get on the mailing list so you know what’s happening in the area.

Keep in mind that working together, across communities, we CAN do something that makes a difference.
